Helping people to become homeowners creates a stronger community
Once a family owns its own home, there is more of a commitment to participating in schools, churches, community organizations and local businesses. Lending to our community helps families and local businesses to thrive. At Second Federal, we’ll do our best to support your goals of financial stability and home ownership.
We have a long history serving the Latino/Mexican community
Second Federal has served the financial needs of our local communities for the past 125 years. When Latino/Mexican immigrants began arriving in the late 1960s, we served as a source of credit with an emphasis placed on home ownership. Little Village has developed through the years into a vibrant Mexican barrio in Chicago. We continue to serve this exciting Latino/Mexican community and others like it throughout Chicagoland.

Second Federal pioneered the ITIN Loan Program to help undocumented immigrants buy homes
The Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) was created for taxpayers who do not qualify for a Social Security Number. Second Federal has pioneered the ITIN Lending Program, a mortgage-lending program for undocumented immigrants that accepts ITIN numbers.
